Normandy: Omaha Beach, Bayeux & Honfleur

This year is the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. We drove about two hours north to visit Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery where close to 10,000 of our soldiers are buried. The cemetery was incredibly beautiful.  I can't even begin to describe the pride and inspiration I felt while going through the Visitor's Center and reading about the courage and sacrifice of our people.

After leaving the cemetery, we visited Bayeux in the lower Normandy region. This is a small town that is home to the famous Bayeux tapestry (a 230 ft long woven cloth made in the 1070s) and a beautiful cathedral.

The last thing we did before heading back to Paris was visit Honfleur. If you are in area, you must visit this tiny town! It has the cutest harbor lined with many restaurants so it is a perfect place for lunch or dinner.
